There are three most difficult forts in Igatpuri division of Nashik district.  It is necessary to know the technique and materials of rock climbing to make this fort.  On the way to Bhandardarya from Ghoti, three forts namely Alang, Madan and Kulang are in the range of Kalsubai peak.  Due to the dense forest and sparse population, it is a must see in the area.  Due to the difficult access to the fort and heavy rains, this fort is almost neglected.

Places to see:

The top of the fort is a wide plateau. There are two caves to stay on the fort.  There are 11 water tanks.  There are some remains of a building on the fort.  There is a small temple.  The fort has a large surrounding area.  To the east are Kalsubai, Aundha Fort, Patta, Bitangad, to the north Harihar, Trimbakgad, Anjaneri and to the south Harishchandragad, Ajobacha Gad, Khutta Sulka, Ratangad, Katrabai Cha Dongar.  It takes 4 hours to walk around the fort.

 Reach:

 1) Via Ambewadi: -

To reach Alang fort, reach Igatpuri or Kasara. Reach Ambewadi via Igatpuri / Kasara-Ghoti-Pimpalnermore.  Ghoti to Ambewadi  The service is also available.  The distance from Ghoti to Ambewadi is about 32 km.  There is a bus from Ghoti to Ambewadi at 6.00 am.

Alang, Madan and Kulang forts are visible from Ambewadi.  From the village itself, one has to wait to reach the gorge of Alang and Madan forts.  The wait is very tiring.  It takes 3 hours to reach the gorge.  On reaching the gorge, Alang fort on the left and Madan fort on the right.  There are two ways to get to Alang from here.

 A) A path descends through the gorge towards the front.  In 1 hour we reach the lower plateau.  From here, keeping the edge of Alang on the left, in 1 hour we reach the third Ghali coming from the fort.  There is a wooden beech in this ghat.  It is a little easier to climb up the hill.  Next it takes a little bit of surface. From here, take the path leading to the left.  In 10 to 15 minutes we reach the cave on the fort.  It takes 8 to 9 hours to reach here from Ambewadi.

 B) After going a little further along the path on the left side of the gorge, a few steps are required for easy rock climbing.  After climbing these steps, you will come across a straight broken edge of 80 to 90 feet.  The fort can be reached using rock climbing equipment.  Don't dare to go this route unless you know the technique of rock climbing.  It takes 6 hours to reach the fort by this route.

 2) Via Ghatghar: -

The second way to reach the fort is from Ghatghar.  Reach Ghatghar via Ghoti-Bhandardara.  In two and a half hours from Ghatghar, you reach the wooden bechkaya placed in the third ghat of the fort

 3) Uddavane from village: -

There is another way to get to the fort.  It flows through Bhandardara from Uddavane village to the plateau.  Next we come to the path of No.2.

 Accommodation:

There are 2 caves to stay on the fort.  It can accommodate 30 to 40 people.

 Meals:

 Meals should be arranged by you.

 Water supply:

 There are twelve pans of drinking water.

 Travel time:

 It takes 7 to 8 hours from Ambewadi.

 Notice:

 1) Avoid going to Alanggad in rainy season.

 2) Alang, Madan, Kulanggad trek can be done in 2-3 days.

 3) You can only walk on Kulanggad, but to reach Alang, Madan fort, you need to be aware of the technique of rock climbing and have materials.

नाशिक जिल्ह्यातील इगतपुरी विभागातील सर्वात कठीण असे तीन किल्ले आहेत. हे किल्ले सर करण्यासाठी प्रस्तरारोण तंत्राची व साहित्याची माहिती असणे आवश्यक आहे. घोटीवरून भंडारदर्‍याला जातांना कळसूबाई शिख्रराच्या रांगेत अलंग, मदन आणि कुलंग असे तीन किल्ले लक्ष वेधून घेतात. घनदाट जंगल आणि विरळ वस्ती यामुळे हा परिसरातील भटकंती तशी कस पहाणारी आहे. गडावर जाण्याच्या अवघड वाटा, भरपूर पाऊस यामुळे हे दुर्गत्रिकुट तसे उपेक्षितच आहे.

पहाण्याची ठिकाणे :

किल्ल्याचा माथा म्हणजे एक प्रशस्त पठारच आहे किल्ल्यावर राहण्यासाठी दोन गुहा आहेत. पाण्याची ११ टाकी आहेत. किल्ल्यावर इमारतीचे काही अवशेष आहेत. एक छोटेसे मंदिर आहे. किल्ल्यावरून आजुबाजूचा खूप मोठा परिसर दिसतो. पूर्वेला कळसूबाई, औंढाचा किल्ला,पट्टा ,बितनगड,उत्तरेला हरिहर ,त्र्यंबकगड, अंजनेरी तर दक्षिणेला हरिश्चंद्रगड, आजोबाचा गड, खुट्टा सुळका , रतनगड, कात्राबाई चा डोंगर हा परिसर दिसतो. किल्ल्याचा माथा फिरण्यास ४ तास पुरतात.

पोहोचण्याच्या वाटा :

१) आंबेवाडी मार्गे :- 

अलंग किल्ल्यावर जाण्यासाठी इगतपुरी किंवा कसारा गाठावे इगतपुरी/कसारा-घोटी-पिंपळनेरमोर या मार्गे आंबेवाडी गाठावी. घोटी ते आंबेवाडी अशी एस.टी. सेवा देखील उपलब्ध आहे. घोटी ते आंबेवाडी हे साधारण ३२ किमी चे अंतर आहे. घोटीवरुन पहाटे आंबेवाडी ला ६.०० वाजताची बस आहे.

आंबेवाडीतून समोरच अलंग, मदन आणि कुलंग हे तीन किल्ले दिसतात. गावातूनच अलंग आणि मदन किल्ल्याच्या खिंडी पर्यंत जाण्यासाठी वाट आहे. वाट फारच दमछाक करणारी आहे. खिंड गाठण्यास ३ तास लागतात. खिंडीत पोहचल्यावर डावीकडचा अलंग किल्ला, तर उजवीकडचा मदन किल्ला. येथून अलंगवर जाण्यासाठी दोन वाटा आहेत.

अ) एक वाट खिंडीतून समोरच्या दिशेने खाली उतरते. १ तासात आपण खालच्या पठारावर पोहोचतो. येथून अलंगचा कडा डावीकडे ठेवत १ तासात आपण किल्ल्यावरून येणार्‍या तिसर्‍या घळीपाशी पोहोचतो. या घळतीच एक लाकडी बेचका ठेवला आहे. या बेचक्यातून वर गेल्यावर थोडे सोपे प्रस्तरारोहण करावे लागते. पुढे थोडीशी सपाटी लागते.येथून डावीकडे कड्यालगत जाणारी वाट पकडावी. १० ते १५ मिनिटात आपण किल्ल्यावरील गुहेत पोहोचतो. आंबेवाडीतून येथपर्यंत पोहचण्यास ८ ते ९ तास उलटून गेलेले असतात.

ब) खिंडीतून डावीकडच्या वाटेने थोडे पुढे गेल्यावर सोपे प्रस्तरारोहण केल्यावर काही पायर्‍या लागतात. या पायर्‍या चढून गेल्यावर एक ८० ते ९० फूटाचा सरळसोट तुटलेला कडा लागतो. या कड्यावर प्रस्तरारोहणाचे साहित्य वापरून किल्ल्यावर प्रवेश करता येतो. प्रस्तरारोहणाचे तंत्र अवगत असल्याशिवाय या वाटेने जाण्याचे धाडस करू नये. या वाटेने किल्ला गाठण्यास ६ तास लागतात.

२) घाटघर मार्गे :- 

किल्ल्यावर जाण्यासाठीची दुसरी वाट घाटघर वरून आहे. घोटी - भंडारदरा मार्गे घाटघर गाठावे. घाटघरहून अडीच तासात किल्ल्याच्या तिसर्‍या घळीत ठेवलेल्या लाकडी बेचक्यापाशी पोहोचतो. 

३) उदडवणे गावातून :- 

किल्ल्यावर जाण्यासाठी आणखी एक वाट आहे. ती भंडारदरा मार्गे उदडवणे गावातून पठारावर येते. पुढे क्रं २ च्या वाटेला येऊन मिळते.

राहाण्याची सोय :

किल्ल्यावर राहण्यासाठी २ गुहा आहेत. यात ३० ते ४० जणांची राहण्याची सोय होते.

जेवणाची सोय :

जेवणाची सोय आपण स्वत:च करावी.

पाण्याची सोय :

बारामही पिण्याच्या पाण्याची टाकी आहेत.

जाण्यासाठी लागणारा वेळ :

आंबेवाडीतून ७ ते ८ तास लागतात.

सूचना :

१) अलंगगडावर पावसाळ्यात जाणे टाळावे.

२) अलंग, मदन, कुलंगगड हा ट्रेक २-३ दिवसात करता येतो.

३) फक्त कुलंगगडावर पायी चालत जाता येते, तर अलंग, मदन गडावर जाण्यासाठी प्रस्तरारोणाचे तंत्र अवगत असणे व साहित्य असणे आवश्यक आहे.
