History: Another name of Hudsar fort is Parvatgad.  The fort was built during the Satavahana period, during which a large number of people lived on the fort.  The fort was built on the outskirts of the town to protect Naneghat.  Historical documents state that Hudsar fort was included in the treaty made by Shahaji Raja with the Mughals in 1637.  After this, around 1818, the British conquered Junnar and the surrounding forts.  The fort of Hudsar was blown up by the British.   Places to see: The entrance to Hudsar fort is a beautiful example of architecture.  The entrance to the Bogdevja entrance is a unique feature of the

Kulang Fort ( कुलंग किल्ला )

Fort height: 4825 Type of fort: Giridurg Mountain range: Kalsubai District: Nashik Category: Difficult Alang, Madan and Kulanggad in Sahyadri are the most difficult to climb.  Of these, one can only walk to Kulanggad, but to reach Alang, Madan fort, one must be aware of the technique of rock climbing and have the materials.  In the range of Kalsubai, along with Kulang fort, there are many forts like Alang, Madan, Parbagad, Ratangad Kalsubai. Fort height: 4900 Type of fort: Giridurg Mountain range: Kalsubai District: Nashik Category: Extremely difficult Madangad fort is one of the difficult forts in Sahyadri.  As such, the fort is very ancient and equally remote.  The best months to roam the area are December and January.  The trek of Alang, Madan and Kulang forts is combined. Places to see: Gadmatha is as small as that.  There are two water tanks on the fort.  However, it only has water till the month of February.  There is a cave on the fort that can accommodate 20 to 30 people.  From the fort, the surrounding area looks very nice.  Alang, Kulang, Chota Kulang, Ratangad, Ajoba Gad, Katrabai, Dangya Sulka, Harihar, Tribankagad forts are visible from Madangada.  Gadpheris takes half an hour.   Reach: There are two ways to get to the fort.  Both the routes pass through Alang and Madan gorges.  1) via Ambewadi: - To reach Madangada, reach Igatpuri or Kasara.  Reach Ambewadi via Igatpuri / Kasara - Ghot

Fort height: 4500  Type of fort: Giridurg  Dongarrang: Kalsubai  District: Nashik  Category: Extremely difficult There are three most difficult forts in Igatpuri division of Nashik district.  It is necessary to know the technique and materials of rock climbing to make this fort.  On the way to Bhandardarya from Ghoti, three forts namely Alang, Madan and Kulang are in the range of Kalsubai peak.  Due to the dense forest and sparse population, it is a must see in the area.  Due to the difficult access to the fort and heavy rains, this fort is almost neglected. Places to see: The top of the fort is a wide plateau. Prabalgad ( प्रबळगड )

Fort height: 2300 Type of fort: Giridurg District: Raigad Mountain range: Matheran Category: Medium Prabalgad is a fort that catches your eye while passing through the old Mumbai-Pune highway.  The fort is surrounded by Ulhas river on the east, Gadi river on the west, Patalganga river on the south, Manikgad and Karnala fort on the southwest, and nearby Irshalgad fort.  There is an English "V" shaped notch between Prabalgad and the cone of Kalavantini next to it.  The sunset seen from "Sunset Point" in Matheran takes place in this notch.  The British first thought of developing Prabalgad as a place of cool air like Matheran.  But due to water scarcity, the idea backfired. Fort height: 3700 Type of fort: Giridurg District: Raigad Mountain range: Matheran Category: Medium Irshalgad is a fort in the Karjat division.  Karjat, Malanggad, Prabalgad are all forts in Konkan.  While passing through Kalyan-Pune railway line, Malanggad, Devnicha Sulka, Matheran, Peb, Mhaismal, Prabalgad, Ershalgad attract everyone's attention.  Life in the area is normal. Due to abundant rainfall, paddy is widely cultivated everywhere.  Being close to the fort from the highway, it is easy to reach the foothills by vehicle. History:  It is wrong to call Ershal a fort, because Ershal is a cone.  Therefore, it is not mentioned anywhere in the history. Considering the existence of water tanks on the fort, it seems that it must have been used for surveillance.  This fort must have come under the control of the Marathas in May 1666 when Shivaraya took the entire route up to Kalyan, Bhiwandi Rayari.  Ershal is the neighbor of Prabalgad.  On 23rd January 1972,

Chanderi Fort ( चंदेरी किल्ला )

Fort height: 2300 Type of fort: Giridurg District: Thane Mountain range: Matheran Category: Difficult On the Mumbai-Pune railway line, on the way from Kalyan to Karjat, there is a mountain range on the right, which is the Badlapur mountain range.  In this mountain range, you can see a huge cone with its head raised to Bhalathor, the name of the fort is "Chanderi".  There is a village called Goregaon on the Badlapur-Karjat road between Badlapur-Wangani station.  Chanderi is waiting from here.  Dense tree trunks at the foot of Chanderi, grassy slippery path and slippery slope is a unique challenge in the Sahyadri. History:  The remaining ramparts in a dilapidated state can be seen near the cave on the fort.  This is the only sign left of the fort.  In May 1656, when Shivaraya took the entire route up to Kalyan, Bhiwandi and Rairi, this fort must have come under the control of Marathas.  Given the small expansion, low water storage, lack of co
